2006

In January, Mark sees one Tony Huerta working as front of house sound mixer at the CMEA All State Vocal Jazz choir. Mark asks Tony to become FOH engineer with Take 6! First collaboration is at a concert in April, in Quito (Ecuador).

Take 6 is touring to Indonesia for the first time. To give an impression, their world tour consists these days of: March 1 in Seoul, Korea; March 3 and 4 at the Jazz festival in Jakarta, Indonesia; March 6 and 7 in Brisbane, Australia and March 19 back in the States (Chicago).

The 12th album is released on March 21: Feels Good (Miles High Productions, under their own record label Take 6 Records.)
‘Come On' and ‘More Than Ever' are released as singles.

Claude on the group development:

Interestingly enough I think that Take 6 as a group has undergone a rebirth. That rebirth started two years ago (2004) and it's been a process of probably 5-7 years but within the last two years I think we've really grown to love one another on a very real level. I think we've learned how to communicate with each other and I think that when you really start being real with each other at whatever point if it's 20 years later or next week I think that that enables your business to grow, your creativity to grow it enables your spirituality to grow and I think that's what's happening with this group.

Claude tells about the advantage of having your own record label:

We may have taken more time than we really needed to lay down tracks because we wanted them to sound like we knew they could. We didn't have the “if only we'd spent more time" excuse not to make the songs sound exactly the way we wanted them to. We did a lot more experimentation on this album to perfect the sound and arrangements. It was the first time that all six of us liked every single song and arrangement on the CD.

More Than Ever has become very different from its original incarnation. It evolved through experimentation processes. We tinkered with the final arrangement a lot. We tried to stay true in a vocal sense but it is very different for us. It has become one of our favorite songs on the album now.

We were able to create changes in the studio as well which helped the song Wait for the Sunshine. We weren't getting the best feel for the sound that we wanted, so we changed it up about four different times. Finally, because we took the time, it did come out the way that we wanted it. In the past year the song would have simply gone on the album and we would not have liked it.

In addition to Feels Good they do two exclusive songs for ITUNES® and Rhapsody®. For ITUNES: ‘You Know What It Means to Miss New Orleans' with Aaron Neville, of which the revenues go to Habitat for Humanity. For Rhapsody® they record Marvin Gaye's ‘What's Going On' with Brian McKnight. Claude: “We may release that with some other artists to see what develops. We'll include those on the next pressings of “Feels Good" but right now they are exclusives." They release this record on single as well.

https://www.acappellanews.com/archive/001122.html tells about “Do You Know What It Means...":

For 60 days beginning March 7, the song will only be available through the online digital download site, iTunes, and the artists' share of the proceeds from the sale of the song will benefit Neville's favorite charity, New Orleans area Habitat for Humanity. Following its run on iTunes, the song will be available on all major digital download sites. A native of New Orleans, Neville's home was severely damaged by Hurricane Katrina and the singer currently resides in Nashville.
“What a thrill to be able to do a song that is so appropriate for victims of Katrina," said Take 6 member Mark Kibble. “Aaron brought the passion that only one who lived in the city - and knew it for everything that it was and is - can bring. He's the classic best and it is an honor to have him help us aid those who are still in need of relief."
In commenting on the project, New Orleans area Habitat for Humanity Development Coordinator Gina Stilp said, “Thanks to generous partners like Take 6 and Aaron Neville, Habitat for Humanity's Musicians' Village will help keep the rich musical traditions of New Orleans alive. The Musician's Village will provide home ownership opportunities for dozens of musicians and their families that have been displaced by Hurricane Katrina."

David and Mark work on Brian Littrell's (Backstreet Boys) first solo gospel album ‘Welcome Home' which will be released in summer 2006 on the Reunion Records-label.

Mark tells about the album of Ray Charles:

We were almost on his very last CD (Genius and Friends). We'd actually done the title cut for it. But by the time we finished it, he was already too ill to perform it. But my memories with him are so great, because I actually got to spend time with him in his studio, bringing him the material. He didn't allow me to watch him to record; he just said, “You just give me the music, and I'ma do my thing, and I'll send it back to you." I gave it to him, let him listen to it, watched him go around his whole studio, knowing where every button was, threading the tape machine, the whole nine. He had a great appreciation for what we do, and for me, so our friendship was great. I had many conversations with him, and it was just a wonderful experience.

Alvin has gone back to college: he wants to be an entertainment lawyer.

Take 6 promisses to start publishing sheet music! ‘Family of Love' and ‘I'll never turn back no more' for starters.
